Senior Manuel Rabelo came to swim at UF after getting kicked off the Cuba national team for coming to the United States with his family. Just before the 2011 SEC swimming and diving championships, his NCAA scholarship eligibility ran out and Cuba refused to sponsor him. Although he had some of the best swimming times in his country, he decided to give up swimming because there was more freedom here to have a better future. (Video and photos by Nicole Greiner)
